David Beckham is an advocate for charity.
In his own words: He said the world would be a better place without football.
He is the patron of Good Hope, which has a long history of providing support to people in need.
He was named in the Forbes list of the world’s 100 most valuable men last year and is the highest-paid athlete in the world.
His son, American star Beckham Jr., also owns the MLS side LA Galaxy.
In 2016, Beckham and his wife, model Gigi Hadid, gave £2.4 million to the US government and the American Red Cross.
The Beckham family has also given £8.5 million to charity, including the UN Children’s Fund and the UK’s International Development Agency.
