The New England Revolution defender was honored for his charitable work in his first season with the team last month, the New England Press reported.
In a message to fans and sponsors on Instagram, Rowe thanked fans for their support for the Revolution.
“The best is yet to come for me and the fans.
As the captain and a member of the team, you all have given me the greatest amount of love and support I have ever received from my team and the people of Boston.
This is a privilege and a blessing to be able to support the players and coaches as they continue to lead this franchise,” Rowe wrote.
He added: “I look forward to working with you all again to help make a difference in people’s lives.”
Rowe, 25, joined the Revolution as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
The New York native is currently in his fourth season with New England, starting all 30 regular season games.
