MTV News – 6/30/2018: “Good Neighbors” star Taya Roberts has joined the Teen Charity Challenge, the nonprofit charity program that brings teens together to donate money and help the needy.
The Teen Good charity challenge will launch on Feb. 28, 2018.
“I’m excited to get to know these kids and help them get through the tough times and get ahead,” Roberts said in a statement to MTV News.
“This is what I do every single day and this is what the Teen Great Charity Challenge was all about.”
A few months ago, Roberts announced on Instagram that she was joining the Teen Foundation.
“What I’m trying to do is bring the kids together, and I think the Teen Alliance has done an amazing job of it,” Roberts, a member of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” told The Hollywood Reporter.
“If we can help raise money for the kids, we’ll help them.”
The Teen Foundation will use the money to help support the Teen Kids program, which was created by Roberts and her boyfriend, rapper Tyler, and includes a focus on youth, including the Teen Youth Development Centers.
For example, Teen Alliance members will receive a free Teen Kids school trip.
Teen Alliance also will provide tutoring, meals and mentoring for teens and parents.
The charity challenge launched with the help of “Glow” star Jodie Foster.
“When the Teen Challenge launched, I was a little worried that we wouldn’t be able to bring a lot of young people together to raise money,” Foster told MTV News in February.
“But they’re doing an amazing thing.
We’re all just excited to be a part of it.”
Foster also said she would like to be the next Teen Alliance president.
“We all love what the foundation is doing,” she said.
“You can’t put a price on that.
You can’t buy this foundation.”
Teen Good was created in 2003 by actress and philanthropist Marla Singer.
The foundation has raised $6 million since 2004.
The organization’s mission is to “provide hope, dignity and empowerment for children in need,” according to its website.
“Teen Good is a nonprofit that works to support the youth of our community, to promote their health and well-being, and to encourage their involvement in community activities,” the organization states.
“Our mission is simple: to empower teens with the tools to be better people, to be more responsible, and more responsible adults.”
